Prosecutor General's Office publishes data on crimes on religious ground

In Ukraine, for the three months of 2017, 25 criminal proceedings on racial, national or religious grounds were registered. One case was closed for lack of corpus delicti, another one was brought to court. This is said in the report of the Prosecutor General's Office upon the enquiry of 112.ua, writes the site.

Thus, according to official data, for the 3 months of 2017, 25 criminal proceedings were registered under the article of the Criminal Code "Violation citizens’ equality based on their race, nationality, religious preferences and disability".

In addition, during this period, 3 criminal proceedings were started under the article "Damage to religious buildings or houses of worship". 2 criminal proceedings were registered under the article "Desecration or destruction of religious relics".

As reported, in 2016, 77 offences were committed on the grounds of racial or religious hatred.
