Religious actors urge to stand up against attempts of history distortion

Spiritual leaders of traditional religions of Russia spoke on May 9 about the importance of mutual struggle with any endeavors to distort history and justify criminal actions of fascism and Nazism, writes RIA Novosti.

“We honor an immortal feat of liberators; glory and reverence of their great deed is just a fraction of gratitude from the generation of their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren for saving the peace. We pray for the health of our veterans, those whose memories link generations. The best homage to warriors-liberators will be to preserve in the national memory the feat of soldiers and withstand any attempts of history distortion, any attempts to justify criminal actions committed by fascists and Nazi,” the address says.

Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill noted that the victory in the Great Patriotic War is “historic truth that changed the historic course. It was the victory that saved our nation and our country. The apex of this victory was our army, the people were able to do a great deed.”

Earlier Patriarch Kirill said in his sermon that heavenly host helped to gain victory in the Great Patriotic War.
