Head of Zaporozhye RSA condemns anti-church laws, resigns from SBU and publishes a declaration
"The other day I wrote a report on the dismissal from the reserve of the SBU. The decision I made was agreed by the head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Hrytsak and President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko. By this action I want to avoid even hints of double standards and a "special status" for any of the civil servants. This decision will become legal basis for publishing my electronic declaration as a civil servant. In the near future, I will send a letter to the NAPK with a request to add my declaration in open access in accordance with the procedure established by law, "wrote Bryl in his Facebook page.
For a long time, Bryl was accused of violating the law, which provides for mandatory submission of electronic declarations by government officials. In his turn, Bryl stressed that he did not violate the law, because he submitted a timely declaration of income and property, but it is not available for free because he is an active member of the Security Service of Ukraine.
K. Bryl also held a meeting with Metropolitan of Zaporozhye and Melitopol Luke, the result of which was a joint appeal of Bryl and Archbishop Luke to MPs of Ukraine with a request to analyze bills No.4128 and No.4511 concerning amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Organizations" on the change of subordination by religious communities.
"In order to avoid a split in the community, the clergy and authorities of the region appealed to people's deputies of Ukraine," Konstantin Bryl wrote on his Facebook page. “According to the representatives of the clergy, they planned to hold a rally. However, such an action could cause an aggravation of the situation in the region and also lead to a split in the Zaporozhye community. Thanks to our communication, the clergy representatives listened to the advice and decided to cancel mass actions."
As reported by the UOJ, Head of Zaporozhye Regional State Administration Konstantin Bryl held a meeting with the Chairmen of church districts of the Zaporozhye UOC eparchy, headed by Metropolitan of Zaporozhye and Melitopol Luke on May 17.
