UGCC does not intend to abandon the church in Kolomyia, – Statement of the diocese

The Kolomyia-Chernivtsi diocese of the UGCC declares that it does not intend to abandon the historical temple of the UGCC, the Annunciation Church, which is located in the Monastyrok cemetery in Kolomyia, in favor of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This is said in the statement of the diocese in connection with the latest events around the Church of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos, writes the website of the UGCC.

The UGCC claims that the community of the UOC has performed services in the church "of free will of the Greek Catholic community of Kolomyia", until the latter builds its own temple.

"We call on everyone to calmly and justly resolve this issue," says the statement of the UGCC, but they are not going to refuse from the church.

As reported by the UOJ, the Annunciation Church was transferred for use to the community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in 1991. It is an architectural monument and was built in 1587.
