With Bandera, Ukraine will not enter Europe, – Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs
"Our message is very clear: you will not enter Europe with Bandera," said Waszczykowski. "We talk about it loudly and quietly. We will not repeat the mistakes of the 1990s, when there were certain problems in relations with Germany and Lithuania. I am referring to the status of Polish minorities in these countries. Having such experience, we will firmly demand from Ukraine that all matters be settled before Kiev stands at the gate of Europe with a request for membership."
Waszczykowski drew attention to possible contradictions that already exist in the relations between countries. So, he cited Greece and Macedonia as an example: because of Greece's disagreement with the name of Macedonia, the latter cannot join NATO and begin negotiations on membership in the EU.
The Minister recalled that the visit of Polish President Andrzej Duda to Kiev is currently being prepared, and last year President Petro Poroshenko and a number of Ukrainian ministers visited Warsaw, the work on solving common problems continues.
The head of the ruling party of Poland "Law and Justice" Jaroslaw Kaczynski, earlier said that the future of Polish-Ukrainian relations is "questionable" because of Ukraine's interpretation of its own history, in particular, the role of the UPA.
