Сourt recognizes the rights of UOC community to church in Kolomyia

On October 4, the Ivano-Frankivsk District Administrative Court recognized the legitimacy of the rights of the UOC community to the Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Kolomyia and the sealing of the church illegal, reports the Ivano-Frankivsk eparchy.

The court presented evidence that confirmed the unlawfulness of the actions of the head of the Kolomyia police department Ostap Bileychuk and the Kolomyia mayor Igor Sliuzar.

The court concluded that the decisions of the "working group", in particular the sealing of the bell tower of the church and the establishment of alternate services of the communities of the UOC and the UGCC in the church, were illegal.

The court also ordered the Kolomyia police department and the Kolomyia City Council to charge 1,600 UAH of legal costs in favour of the religious community of the UOC.
