Mass media: If Tomos granted, nationalists will take control of temples

Oleg Tiagnibok (VO “Svoboda”), Andrei Tarasenko (“Right Sector”) and Andrei Biletsky (“National Corps”)

This is what Strana.ua writes about in its analysis of the political prospects of competing candidates from the right-wing and nationalist camp.

“Much depends on the situation around the Tomos,” the publication cites its own source, representing the nationalist movement. “If it is granted, the time of nationalists will come. After all, we will become the main force that will take control of the temples and transfer them to the Local Church. And here we will see who will show himself the best.”

In Ukrainian politics, there are a significant number of different nationalist parties and movements, in the statements of which regular aggressive attacks and threats against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church are heard. For example, the leader of the VO “Svoboda” Oleg Tiagnibok stated that all the shrines of the UOC, including the Kiev-Pechersk and Pochaev Lavras, should be taken away, not waiting for the resolution on the situation with Tomos.

As the UOJ reported, the leader of the UOC KP Filaret assumed that the Tomos on granting autocephaly to the Ukrainian Church will be signed next week.
