Decisions of Constantinople Synod on Ukraine become known

On November 29, the session of the Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate ended in Istanbul

According to the decision of the Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the "unification council", at which the primate of a new church structure will be elected, will take place in Kiev in December, reports the Greek portal "Orthodoxia.Info"

According to the media portal, the elected primate will be given the Tomos on autocephaly of the Church in Ukraine. The Phanar hopes that along with the "bishops" of the schismatic structures, the "unification council" presided by the Constantinople hierarch Met. Emmanuel of France will be attended by representatives of the UOC.

The Ecumenical Patriarchate is now embarking on the last step necessary to grant the autocephalous status – drafting the text of the Statute of the Ukrainian Church.

The text of the Statute will be presented by the Exarch of the Ecumenical Throne in Ukraine. In the future, some amendments and additions can be made to the text.

At the conclusion of the assembly, the head of the Autocephalous Church will be elected to be further granted the Tomos.

We recall that a regular session of the Holy Synod of the Constantinople Patriarchate began its work in Istanbul on November 27. It was attended by Rostislav Pavlenko, Advisor to the President of Ukraine, who had arrived in Phanar the day before to meet with Patriarch Bartholomew.
