Synod expresses gratitude to UOC believers for supporting canonical Church

The Holy Synod of the UOC adopted an appeal to the faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church

The UOC Synod thanked the clergy and laity for their being steadfast in this difficult time for the Church. This was announced after the meeting of the Holy Synod by Chancellor of the UOC, Metropolitan Anthony of Borispol and Brovary.

"The Synod adopted an appeal to the faithful of the UOC, in which it informed about its decisions and thanked for the fortitude of the bishops, clergy, monkhood and laity, as well as asked to pray for those bishops who, unfortunately, backslid into schism, so that the Lord would enlighten them and give strength to return to the bosom of the canonical Orthodox Church,”said His Eminence Anthony.

“The Ukrainian Orthodox Church is alive, it acts, it serves its people,” the hierarch concluded.

As the UOJ reported earlier, on December 17, 2018, an extraordinary meeting of the Holy Synod of the UOC was held at the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. The meeting of the Holy Synod addressed issues related to the challenges the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is being confronted with.
