Riurikid descendant prince Andrew becomes secretary of OCU eparchy

Prince Andrew Gorchakov has been appointed secretary of the Bogorodsk Eparchy of the OCU in Russia, who is also the “hegumen” of the Ochakov male skete of the OCU of St. Sergius of Radonezh. The UOJ learnt about it from its own sources.

The prince is known for his vigorous social activities and multifaceted perception of the world. He is the only descendant of the Riurikid dynasty living in Ukraine, the founder and president of the Rinpoche Center for Tibetan Culture and Information, promoter of the Roerich Pact idea, advisor to the former President Leonid Kravchuk, famous philanthropist, poet, writer, artist and philosopher. He also introduces himself as a vicar of the Ochakov skete of the OCU of St. Sergius of Radonezh, the information about which has not yet been found.

In 2017, prince Andrew became the face of the Ukrainian Fashion magazine . In an interview with the publication, the prince said that he usually begins his day “with meditation, kind thoughts and prayers that he sends to the entire Universe”, studies “the aspect and location of the planets in his cosmogram”, and also drinks “energetically charged Tibetan water”. One of the most memorable meetings of the prince is his audience with Dalai Lama.

In 2018, Andrew Gorchakov received an award "For merits before Nikolayev Region".

In May 2019, the prince received an award from "patriarch" Filaret.

In 2010, the descendant of the Riurikid dynasty took part in the “Russian March”, dedicated to the new state holiday of the Russian Federation – the Day of National Unity.
