Now the Uniate-Bolshevik tradition of persecuting the Church continues to be implemented by officials, and the police guarding LGBT marches are inactive during the seizures of churches or even attacking believers, Metropolitan Luke (Kovalenko) of Zaporozhye and Melitopol noted on Telegram.

“Thousands of policemen guard the Equality marches with us, while with the believers beaten up and UOC churches seized, the law enforcement services either are completely inactive or help the invaders,” the UOC hierarch noted.

According to the hierarch, this behavior of law enforcement officials demonstrates double standards.

“It turns out that modern democracy understands freedom of conscience and human rights based on double standards. If someone dares to say only a reprehensible word in relation to representatives of non-traditional sexual orientations, then all the anger of freedom-loving democrats will immediately fall upon him/her. But if they are beaten and persecuted for their faith, then no one will pay the slightest attention to it,” wrote Metropolitan Luke.

He wished the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky and politicians "to remember that enormous responsibility before God and before his people for the power that was granted to you."

“We all hope that someday we will be able to see how in our country the religious rights and freedoms of any person are respected and protected. And the right of everyone to have their own beliefs will not only be written in the Constitution but also be respected in practice,” Metropolitan Luke concluded.

Earlier, he called on new politicians to be worthy of the confidence of the people of Ukraine. Vladyka Luke also recalled that “having voted for one candidate or another, entrusting him with your vote, you become his co-worker”. “In fact, the well-being of our Motherland depends, first of all, on each of us – on our civic responsibility, personal conscience, and decency. The moral quality of the ruling elite is directly proportional to the moral quality of each member of our society. Society begins to decompose and decay when it loses the “salt” of a righteous life. For God to give our land wise and pious rulers, it is necessary for each of us to grow in wisdom and piety,” the bishop wrote.
