On September 14, 2019, at the invitation of the mayor's office, Metropolitan Varsonofy of Vinnitsa and Bar took part in the festivities on the occasion of the Day of Vinnitsa, reports the press service of the Vinnitsa Eparchy.
Vladyka was accompanied by the priests of the city, headed by Archpriest Roman Makar, secretary of the eparchial administration, and Archpriest Valery Shvets, head of the eparchial department for relations with authorities.
During the celebrations, the archpastor met with representatives of the city and regional authorities.
Vladyka commented on the results of the meetings on his Facebook page: “At the invitation of the mayor’s office of our city, I took part in celebrations and talked with the mayor Sergei Morgunov and Vladimir Groysman. I was able to tell them for the first time of the aggressive conduct of the OCU during the nine months when they illegally seized the eparchial administration, the Transfiguration Cathedral, all the documentation of our eparchy, the seal, finances and more. I hope everything will return in the near future. ‘God dwells not in strength but in truth’."
As reported by the UOJ, earlier Metropolitan Varsonofy told Athos monks about the persecution of UOC believers.
