Met. Varsonofy (Stoliar) of Vinnytsia and Bar reported on his FB page that the benefactor for the OCU from Vinnytsia wants to buy a cell in one of Athos monasteries.
He said that "during the pilgrimage trip to Athos he met with the hegumen and brotherhood of the St. Panteleimon Monastery and spoke about the position of the Vinnytsia Eparchy, which suffers from attacks and encroachments of the OCU on our temples”.
During this meeting, Met. Varsonofy received information that "the Vinnytsia benefactor for the OCU wants to buy a cell in one of the Athos monasteries, bring monks from Ukraine to organize a skete there”.
The bishop stressed that he does not believe in it to the end but finds it important “to tell the monasteries of Athos that this is unacceptable because it will serve even greater division”.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the representative of the Monastery of Athos, Philotheus, left the liturgy because of the presence of the OCU "hierarch" Epiphany Dimitriou.
