Epiphany’s secretary: We hope for antiseptic, UOC – for prayer

Ivan Sidor, secretary of the Kyiv Metropolis of the OCU and assistant to Epiphany, published a post on his Facebook page, in which he shows the differences between the UOC and its church structure by an example of the attitude towards the coronavirus. Sidor soon deleted the publication for unknown reasons.

According to Sidor, "the differences between the Ukrainian and Russian Churches on the example of the coronavirus pandemic" are fully expressed by the two news items published by the “Ukrainska Pravda” resource. The first one says that "clergymen" of the OCU following the instructions of Dumenko are engaged in the production of antiseptic. The second one says that priests of the UOC in Berdiansk drove with holy banners around the city on cars and sprinkled the streets with holy water.

Sidor believes that these contrasting examples fully illustrate the contrast between his organization and the UOC. And it is difficult to disagree with him.

"In fact, there are many differences. It's not just the language, the spiritual centre, and worldview... There's a difference in everything: church singing, icon painting, church architecture, the length of the clergy's beard and the sobriety of the mind/faith of the lay people (religious fanaticism). Love Ukrainian!" concluded the OCU cleric.

Earlier, the OCU had instructed that "divine services" should be discontinued or their order changed.
