In his sermon on the occasion of the celebration of the day of the Descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles, the Primate of the UOC, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine, urged the flock to make sure one preserves the image of the Trinity Deity inside themselves. A video broadcast of the festive worship ii the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, during which the Primate addressed the flock with this sermon, was posted on the YouTube channel of the monastery “Lavra. The Way of Salvation".
“Each person bears an image of the Trinity Deity. Everyone has a mind. Human mind has the peculiarity of generating thoughts, while the latter has the power that encourages men to do good deeds. The mind is an image of Heavenly God the Father. The thought that is constantly born of the mind is an image of God the Son. And the power carried by the thought is an image of the Holy Spirit <...>, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry stressed. “We should make sure this image is intact.”
When people commit sins, they distort, spurn and destroy a beautiful, bright, noble and joyful image of God in themselves, the Primate drew the attention of believers. He recalled that everyone should restore this damaged image of the Holy Trinity.
This can be done through the fulfillment of the Divine Commandments, which “help us correct all our distortions” and properly ground ourselves so that we are useful both to ourselves and to those around us, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry noted.
“It is very important that a person retains the image of the Trinity Deity to fill his mind with good thoughts,” he upheld.
According to the Primate, we must live in such a way that our mind is filled with good teachings of the Divine Scripture and the Holy Fathers; then good thoughts will be born in us, the warmth of which would enkindle us and those around us. This way we can feel comfortable and preserve our dignity in any trials, His Beatitude Onuphry added.
He reminded believers of the importance of receiving the Sacrament of the Eucharist and congratulated everyone on the birthday of the Church – the Holy Pentecost.
“May the Lord help us build our earthly life so that we could have our Heavenly Father as our Hope, the Son as our Abode, and the Holy Spirit as our Intercession always and everywhere,” the Primate wished to the flock.
Earlier, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry recorded a video congratulation on the holiday of the Holy Trinity for all believers, in which he also recalled that each person bears an image of the Holy Trinity.
