Minister of Culture Oleksandr Tkachenko said that on March 30, 2023, the commission of the National Reserve "Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra" for the acceptance and transfer of property could not start work on the territory of the monastery due to "physical obstacles" on the part of believers.

“Representatives of the monastery from the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, who are part of the commission, could not explain who had the keys to the building, the inspection of which was planned. In addition, numerous unknown people prevented the members of the commission from getting inside the building,” the head of the Ministry of Culture wrote on his Telegram channel.

According to the official, "the rude behaviour of the representatives of the UOC-MP towards the commission members is deeply dissonant with their calls to God".

Tkachenko said that "on the fact of obstructing the work of the commission, an application was filed with the police" and assured that on March 31 "the commission will continue its work in any case."

As reported, the commission of the reserve, sent to the Lower Lavra, could not get into any of the temples and buildings of the monastery. Believers intend to continue protecting the shrine, they are staying overnight in the monastery.
