The mayor of Ternopil Serhiy Nadal commented on his Telegram channel on the situation regarding the protests under the UOC cathedral and said that the Moscow Patriarchate should disappear from Ukraine.

"Ternopil residents said that the Moscow church has no place in Ternopil! I will say more, the Moscow Church must disappear from Ukraine once and for all! I call upon the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine at the legislative level to decide to ban the operations of the Russian Orthodox Church in our country and to nationalize all the land plots and premises," Nadal said.

He said, "Today the Moscow Church is Ukraine's biggest and most influential internal enemy."

The mayor also added that the cancellation of permission to use land plots, which can be made by local authorities, will not deprive them of their property and religious buildings built on these plots. Only the Verkhovna Rada is authorized to make such decisions.

"I urge people's deputies by law to stop once and for all the operations of the Russian Church in Ukraine!" the mayor of Ternopil added.

As earlier reported, Zelenskyy again guaranteed Ukraine’s "spiritual independence".
