On August 9, 2020, on the day of remembrance of the holy great martyr and healer Panteleimon, with the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine, prayers for doctors and patients will be offered in all churches and monasteries of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, reports the website of the UOC Synodal Department.

The site notes that St. Panteleimon is considered the patron saint of doctors, and prayer for them is especially important now, during the coronavirus epidemic.

Therefore, with the blessing of the UOC Primate, prayers for granting "strength, firmness, health, courage and inspiration to doctors, nurses, emergency medical personnel and ESS workers" will be offered at the augmented litany.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that special prayers will be offered in the monasteries of the UOC to get rid of the coronavirus.
