The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy sent an appeal to the "Local Council" of the OCU, which was held on 27 July at St. Sophia’s Cathedral of Kyiv, reports the press service of the State Ethnopolitics Service (DESS) of Ukraine.

Welcoming the "Council", Zelenskyy stressed: "Enemy missiles and shells will not lead us off this path, we will rebuild the destroyed temples, where the prayer for our Ukraine, for its people, for its army will sound."

Also, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal addressed the "Council".

"In the super hard times of severe trials brought to Ukraine by the full-scale Russian invasion, the Church is always with her people. On the front and on the home front; with those who need a blessing for the defence of the country, who are waiting for spiritual and psychological support, with those whom the aggressor has deprived of their homes and who are looking for help and consolation," the head of the government wrote.

As previously reported, the OCU "Council" approved the transition to the new calendar.
