The authorities will remove the image of the Great Martyr George the Victorious from the coat of arms of the Kyiv region, as it closely resembles the depiction of the saint on the coat of arms of Moscow and the Moscow region, reports the head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration, Ruslan Kravchenko, on Facebook.

"Since 1999, the coat of arms of the Kyiv region has featured Yuri the Dragon-fighter, who copies and resembles St. George the Victorious on the coat of arms of the Moscow region and Moscow. However, we have nothing in common with terrorists. Therefore, it is quite logical that, since the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine began, there has been a question of changing the symbolism," said Kravchenko.

According to him, the image of an angel will replace St. George the Victorious on the coat of arms of the Kyiv region.

"I am confident that soon the Kyiv region will have its own symbols, distinct from any others – a new coat of arms and flag with which we will celebrate victory!" wrote the official.

As reported, President Zelensky signed a law cancelling the celebration of Christmas on January 7th.
