Acting General Director of the National Reserve "Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra" Maksym Ostapenko believes that part of the "illegally built" buildings on the territory of the monastery should be demolished. He made this statement on the air of the Kyiv 24 TV channel, writes bigkyiv.com.ua.

Ostapenko claims that there are 15 "illegally erected structures without proper land allotments" on the Lavra's territory, and the reserve's staff has no access to them because they are not put into operation, and their legal status is undefined. According to the official, after the "correct" land plot registration, the state should decide on the further fate of these objects.

“Certainly, some of them need to be demolished and the historical landscape restored where these buildings appeared,” said the head of the reserve.

According to him, the “illegal” structures that remain must be transferred to state management, and the procedure for their use should be determined.

As previously reported by the UOJ, Maksym Ostapenko said earlier that the further order of monastic life in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra Monastery should be established by state bodies, in particular by DESS (Ukrainian State Service for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience – Trans. Note).
