His Beatitude Onuphry celebrates 30th anniversary of Episcopal ordination

December 9, 2020 marks the 30th anniversary of the Episcopal ordination of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine.
In 1990, His Beatitude was ordained Bishop of Chernivtsi and Bukovyna. He performed archpastoral obedience at the entrusted see for 24 years, after which, on August 13, 2014, the Council of Bishops of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church elected him Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
Traditionally, on the day of the ordination of His Beatitude Obuphry, bishops, clergy and believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church offer prayers with their Primate in the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
The day before, on December 8, festive vespers was held in the Assumption Cathedral of the Lavra, which was officiated by His Beatitude, according to the Information and Education Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
The Archpastor was concelebrated by Metropolitan Theodore of Kamyanets-Podilsky and Gorodok, Chairman of the UOC Church Court, Metropolitan Pavel of Vyshgorod and Chernobyl, the Lavra’s Abbot, Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary, UOC Chancellor, Metropolitan Sergiy of Ternopil and Kremenets, Metropolitan Philaret of Lviv and Galicia, Metropolitan Nikolai of Kremenchug and Lubny, Metropolitan Nikodim of Severodonetsk and Starobelsk, Metropolitan Varsonofy of Vinnytsia and Bar, archbishops and bishops of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the clergy of the monastery and guests in sacred dignity.
On December 9, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry led the Divine Liturgy in the same church.
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the ordination of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the UOC Information and Education Department has prepared a selection of highlights from the period of His Beatitude's service as Archpastor.
The UOJ congratulates its Primate on the 30th anniversary of his ordination and wishes him many happy returns of the day!
We will remind, the day before the Primate of UOC said that 18 years of service as the hieromonk were the best years of his life.
