On January 9, 2021, the vicar of the Volyn Eparchy of the UOC, Bishop Athanasius of Kamen-Kashirsky, visited and congratulated on Merry Christmas the persecuted Orthodox community of the village of Nuino of the Kamen-Kashirsky district, reports the press service of the Volyn Eparchy of the UOC.
The Orthodox community in the Polissya village suffered twice during the OCU raider attack on the Volyn parishes. Its previous rector, John Fatic, fell into schism, and the parish received another rector, Archpriest Alexander Galuziy, who was transferred from the village of Okhlopov of the Gorokhiv district, in which the church was also transferred to the OCU.
On June 7, 2019, by order of the leadership of the Volyn Regional State Administration, the Holy Transfiguration Community of the UOC in the village of Nuino was re-registered to the OCU. The transfer of the community made it easier for the rector to agree to go into schism.
On April 9, 2019, believers registered a new legal entity in Nuino – the Holy Protection Community of the UOC – and tried to negotiate with the authorities and raiders to give them at least a second church located near the cemetery. They were denied this, and on July 11, 2019, the newly formed after the first raider attack of the Holy Protection community was re-registered to the OCU.
At the moment, numerous parishioners of the village of Nuino with a new priest are gathering for services in a private territory and building a new church.
As reported earlier, the Holy Dormition community of the UOC in the village of Perevali, Volyn region, which suffered from the raider actions of the OCU, received a new rector.
