On feast of Theophany, UOC Primate consecrates the Dnieper waters

On January 19, 2021, on the feast of Theophany, the Baptism of the Lord, the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine, blessed the waters of the Dnieper. The live broadcast from the place of the rite was carried out on the page of the UOC Information Centre on Facebook.

The solemn consecration of the waters of the Dnieper was performed on the embankment near the Intercession Church in Obolon, after a festive service at the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, reports the UOC Information and Educational Department.

His Beatitude Onuphry was concelebrated by the UOC Chancellor, Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary, Archbishop Nikolay of Vasilkiv, Bishop Victor of Baryshevka, Bishop Sylvester of Bilogorodka, Bishop Dionisiy of Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky, Bishop Mark of Borodianka and the clergy of the eparchy.

After the consecration, the Primate of the UOC congratulated the believers on the feast of the Baptism of Our Lord and blessed everyone.

As reported, on January 18, 2021, on the Eve of the Theophany, the Primate of the UOC celebrated the Divine Liturgy and the rite of the great consecration of water at the Sts Anthony and Theodosius Church of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
