On July 28, 2020, during the celebration of the Christianizarion of Rus’ in the Ternopil region, “patriotic” phelonia with a chevron of the 44th separate artillery brigade were “consecrated” for the chaplain of the OCU. The photographs taken during the "prayer service" of the OCU with the participation of eight village "priests" were shared on his Facebook page by the Orthodox publicist and blogger Alexander Voznesensky.

The author of the creative "ornament" on the vestments, combining state symbols, a map of Ukraine, the faces of saints and a chevron, was the OCU cleric from the village of Romanivka, Ternopil region, Mykhailo Kokora.

“The ‘creativity’ of the rural cleric was expressed in the creation of phelonia from the flag of Ukraine, thereby violating all the concepts regarding the established colours for different types of services. On the second phelonion, a large chevron was applied. Such a rural patriotism in the church plane when a person has absolutely no understanding of church life, but he really wants to show his own peculiarity,” Alexander Voznesensky commented on the photos.

In addition, creative phelonia were “consecrated” with the traditional for the OCU yellow-blue sprinkler.

Earlier the "priests" of the OCU "consecrated" a plaster bas-relief called "Icon of memory of those who died for independent Ukraine", which instead of the Mother of God depicts "Ukraine-Keeper" embracing a warrior.
