The United Nations (UN), which is often accused of promoting non-traditional values, called for "an end to patriarchy." The corresponding appeal was published on the official Twitter account of the organization on Tuesday, February 9.
“Stop sexism: street harassment; condescending and derogatory manner of talking between men and women with simplified wording; underestimation of women's abilities; ignoring discrimination against women; misogynistic jokes. It's time to put an end to patriarchy!" the UN message says.
As a reminder, in August 2020, UN Secretary General António Guterres said that "the millennia of patriarchy have resulted in a male-dominated world and a male-dominated culture, which damages everyone – women, men, girls and boys."
