On December 27, 2023, the Vinnytsia appellate court was supposed to hold a preparatory hearing on the case of Metropolitan Jonathan of Tulchyn, who was previously sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment.

Metropolitan Jonathan's lawyer, Ihor Chudovsky, told the UOJ that the hearing had been rescheduled to January 22, 2023, due to the resignation of the presiding judge, Vanda Dedik.

The verdict against the UOC hierarch was delivered by the Vinnytsia City Court in August 2023. By the court's decision, the hierarch was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. Pending the enforcement of the verdict, the Metropolitan is under night house arrest at his place of residence in Bershad.

As reported by the UOJ, the UN Human Rights Mission expressed concern about the case of the convicted Metropolitan Jonathan.
