The propaganda against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church with false accusations that began under Petro Poroshenko continues even now, which provokes new seizures of churches, said Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk in the “Church and World” programme, as reported by the DECR Communication Service.

The hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church recalled that the essence of the propaganda against the UOC boils down to the fact that it is supposedly the "fifth column of the Kremlin" and "the Russian Church in Ukraine", although in fact, it is the national Church of Ukraine, uniting the majority of Orthodox believers of this country, who were mainly born and grew up in Ukraine and have Ukrainian passports.

“I really hope that the public, both in Ukraine and abroad, will finally pay attention to the lawlessness that was happening under President Poroshenko and which, unfortunately, has not been completely exhausted, because from time to time we continue to hear about seizures of churches, and the propaganda that leads to these seizures continues," said Metropolitan Hilarion.

He believes that as long as the propaganda continues, until then, unfortunately, the seizure of churches will continue, but he hopes that "the propaganda will be stopped and that the Orthodox believers in Ukraine will be allowed to live in peace".

As the UOJ reported, Metropolitan Hilarion explained why the head of the Phanar has no flock in Ukraine.
