Representative of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Human Rights, Mykhailo Spasov, promised to conduct an investigation into the facts of hindering religious ceremonies by a group of unidentified individuals, as well as police inaction regarding these actions. This was stated on his Telegram channel by UOC lawyer Archpriest Nikita Chekman.
"We hope that during the investigation, the Representative of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Human Rights will establish the presence of facts of violation of the constitutional rights of UOC believers, as mentioned in the appeal, and will provide a proper assessment of the police inaction, whose officers ignore reports of criminal offenses, do not enter data into the ERDR, do not respond to motions, complaints, and other requests from lawyers, which indicates absolute law enforcement inaction," wrote the lawyer.
Recall that this concerns the closure by the Pechersk District Police Department of all previously initiated criminal proceedings against anti-church "activists" who obstruct UOC services near the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, insult the feelings of believers, and incite religious discord.
