Slovenia's ambassador to Ukraine visits UOC centre to be built in Artsyz

On 10 May 2024, the spiritual and cultural centre of the UOC "Basilica", which is being built during the war in Artsyz, Odesa region, was visited by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Slovenia to Ukraine Mateja Prevolšek, reports the Telegram channel of the Odessa Eparchy.

Mateja Prevolšek as part of a delegation of 80 people toured the territory of the centre.

The group was met by the rector of the Church the Icon of the Holy Theotokos "Joy of All Who Sorrow", Archpriest Gennady Martynov. The priest gave a tour and told the history of the creation of the spiritual centre.

"The delegation was very interested to familiarise themselves with the greatness of architectural thought, which Archpriest Gennady has been putting into practice for not the first year. Each participant of the tour was given a unique opportunity to write his name on the brick that will be laid in the altar of the temple under construction," the message says.

As earlier reported, an unusual temple is under construction during the war in Artsyz. In a small town of the Odesa region, the idea of building an "oasis of ancient Christianity" with all the attributes and details. The building materials for the church are taken from dismantled buildings.
