Romanian hierarch celebrates Liturgy at Academic Church of KDAiS

On May 27, 2021, with the blessing of the rector of the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary (KDAiS), Bishop Sylvester of Belogorodka, the vicar of the Cluj Metropolitanate of the Romanian Orthodox Church, Bishop Benedict of Bistriţa celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Academic Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God, reports the press service of the KDAiS.

The Romanian bishop was concelebrated by the teacher of the KDAiS Hieromonk Panteleimon (Melnik), the rector of the Moldovan-Romanian parish at the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, Archpriest Dimitri Polescu, the clergy of the Romanian Church and pupils of the Kyiv theological schools in the priesthood.

The service was held in Church Slavonic and Romanian. Liturgical chants were sung by the academic choir under the direction of the choir director, Archimandrite Leonty (Tupkalo).

After the liturgy, Bishop Benedict signed the altar Gospel of the church in memory of his stay in Kyiv theological schools and the service at the Academic Church.

As reported, the hierarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, Bishop Benedict (Vesa) of Bistriţa, arrived in Ukraine on May 25 for a pilgrimage to the shrines of the UOC. The Romanian bishop began his pilgrimage tour with a visit to the Chernivtsi-Bukovyna Eparchy.
