In Cherkasy, Mayor Anatoliy Bondarenko urged residents not to attend UOC churches, reports the publication 18000.

"The community has now requested to hold a meeting on the transfer of the UOC Cathedral. We'll see how it ends," said the mayor.

He stated that the Cherkasy City Council voted to ban the UOC. "I don't see any politicians having the courage to say this directly. It's time for the Verkhovna Rada to end this church by passing a law. Not to play games, but to clearly put this issue on the agenda," said Bondarenko.

The mayor of Cherkasy stated that he is acquainted with the hierarchs of the UOC, including the head of the Cherkasy Eparchy, Metropolitan Theodosiy, but he doesn't remember the last time he spoke with him.

As the UOJ reported, on June 11, 2024, Metropolitan Theodosiy of Cherkasy and Kaniv announced a planned provocation against the cathedral of the UOC diocese. He made an urgent appeal to all people of good will around the world regarding this situation and the disorder near the courthouse by so-called activists.
