The Apostolic Nuncio to Ukraine, Archbishop Visvaldas Kulbokas, mentioned that communication between the ROC and the Vatican could be resumed because "the Holy See always maintains bridges," and there are representatives within the ROC who would like to see it renewed. He stated this in an interview with the Livyi Bereh publication.
"I don't know what processes are currently underway in the ROC. Today, someone told me that some hierarchs, bishops from the ROC, working outside of Russia, are looking for opportunities to revive and renew relations with the Holy See," said the papal nuncio.
As reported by the UOJ, the Apostolic Nuncio to Ukraine previously stated that the Roman Catholic Church had invited the Vatican's Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, to visit the war-torn country for prayer, and he accepted the invitation.
