Cross procession in Chernihiv Region prays for peace in Ukraine

In the Nizhyn region of Chernihiv oblast, the memory of the Great Martyr Paraskeva Pyatnytsia was honored with a cross procession and prayers for Ukraine. According to the press service of the Nizhyn Diocese of the UOC, on July 12, 2024, Metropolitan Clement of Nizhyn and Pryluky celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Church of St. George in the village of Lypiv Rih, Nizhyn district.

The metropolitan was assisted by the diocesan secretary, Archpriest Valery Dashko, the dean of the Bakhmach Church District, Archpriest Viktor Vorobiy, the dean of the Korop Church District, Archpriest Volodymyr Misenko, the rector of the church, Archpriest Rostyslav Ivanov, and clergy of the Nizhyn Diocese.

During the liturgy, special prayers were offered for peace in Ukraine and for the Ukrainian soldiers defending our homeland on the battlefield.

After the Divine Liturgy, the metropolitan addressed the congregation with a sermon and awarded church certificates to the most active parishioners.

Following this, a cross procession took place to the holy spring and the chapel in honor of the Holy Great Martyr Paraskeva. During the prayer procession, the clergy read the Akathist and performed a water blessing service at the spring. Afterwards, the metropolitan sprinkled the worshippers with holy water and extended his congratulations on the feast day.

As reported, a similar cross procession with prayers for peace in Ukraine was held in the Rivne Diocese.
