On July 15, during a meeting in Kyiv with the hierarch of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal commented on the role of the head of the Phanar, Bartholomew, at the Peace Summit in Switzerland.
The head of the Cabinet of Ministers on his Facebook page called Bartholomew's participation in the Swiss summit "an important contribution to the process of restoring peace in our country."
Also, according to him, the efforts of the Ecumenical Patriarch and prayers for Ukraine "inspire millions of Ukrainians".
As the UOJ reported, Patriarch Bartholomew withdrew his signature from the final document of the 'Peace Summit'. Initially, he did not sign the communiqué, then he signed it. Later, when the Turkish authorities requested explanations, he withdrew his signature.
Zelensky managed to thank the head of the Phanar for signing the 'Peace Summit' communiqué. However, representatives of the Ukrainian side did not provide official comments regarding the change in the position of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
