Metropolitan Clement tells OSCE mission about attacks on UOC believers

On July 21, Metropolitan Clement (Vecheria) of Nizhyn and Pryluky met with representatives of the OSCE mission in Ukraine and discussed violations of religious freedom of believers of the UOC, the website of the Nizhyn diocese reports.

OSCE representatives got interested in the process of investigating crimes committed against parishioners of the Nizhyn diocese of the UOC.

In particular, the metropolitan spoke about the attack on believers and obstruction of the cross procession of the UOC in Nizhyn on June 23, 2021. Then Ukrainian "patriots" with US flags attacked the procession of the UOC in Nizhyn and provoked a fight. The most active participant in the attack was Stanislav Proshchenko, who defends the interests of the OCU in this region.

In addition, the monitoring mission inquired about the involvement of representatives of the city deputy corps in hooligan actions, and whether it had any consequences for them.

Also, representatives of the mission asked about the actions of the provocateurs in social networks, they were particularly interested in calls for physical reprisals against believers of the UOC.

As the UOJ reported, Metropolitan Clement told the details of the attack on the cross procession in Nizhyn.
