On August 6, 2024, during an open session at the Solomianskyi Court in Kyiv, it was decided to release UOC priest Serhiy Chertylin from detention on bail. The relevant document was published by the lawyer of Archpriest Nikita Chekman on his Telegram channel.

During the court session, which was held via videoconference, the court considered the issue of continuing Chertylin's detention.

The judge ruled to extend the priest’s detention until September 12, 2024. However, the court decision states that if bail of 1,652 minimum living wages (equal to over 5 million hryvnias) is paid before this date, Archpriest Serhiy Chertylin should be released immediately.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that the lawyer of Orthodox UOJ journalist Andriy Ovcharenko explained in court why the decision to keep the defendant in detention was unjustified.
