During the latest hearing at the Pechersk District Court in Kyiv regarding the case of the abbot of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, Metropolitan Pavel of Chornobyl and Vyshhorod, the bishop felt unwell and was hospitalized. This was announced by his lawyer, Archpriest Nikita Chekman, on his Telegram channel on August 21, 2024.
According to Archpriest Nikita, the judge noted during the hearing that the metropolitan was feeling poorly and postponed the court session.
Emergency medical personnel provided initial assistance to the hierarch and took him to the hospital for examination, where the question of his hospitalization will be resolved.
The lawyer also pointed out the inappropriate behavior of journalists from 1+1, Suspilne, and others, who, despite the requests of the bishop's defenders and security to leave the courtroom, continued to film the process of providing medical assistance.
"Everyone should remain human, rather than resort to such cynical actions, seeking hype and exclusivity," stressed the human rights defender.
He asked everyone to increase their prayers for Metropolitan Pavel, who is currently undergoing examination.
As reported by the UOJ, Metropolitan Theodosiy of Cherkasy underwent heart surgery.
