On August 16, 2021, the Chancellor of the UOC, Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary, said that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church still remains the only force that actually unites the whole of Ukraine, according to the Information and Education Department of the UOC.

His Eminence Metropolitan noted that over the 7 years of the presidency of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, “it was possible to avoid scenarios of transforming the Church into the political and ideological leverage.”

“On the one hand, we refused to divide Ukrainians into ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, and on the other, we made every effort to preserve and establish peace, harmony and mutual understanding in our native land,” said Metropolitan Anthony.

He is confident that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church still remains the only force that really unites all of Ukraine.

According to Metropolitan Anthony, this unity "is clearly experienced during the All-Ukrainian Cross Procession, when people from the North, South, East and West of our state merge in common prayer."

“People with different political, ideological and personal preferences, which fade into the background with respect to the main thing – fraternal love in Christ,” he stressed.

According to Vladyka's deep conviction, such a unity in faith can indeed become the key to solving a problem that politicians have not been able to settle for a long time.

This, says Metropolitan Anthony, is not only about establishing the long-awaited peace in Ukraine, but also about finding a pillar to keep the state from collapse due to various internal contradictions and conflicts.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that in Ukraine only the UOC ensures succession from Prince Vladimir.
