Dmytruk sends a deputy appeal regarding seizure of a church in Pryyutivka
Seizure of the Church of the Holy Great Martyr George the Victorious (UOC) in Pryyutivka, Kirovohrad Region
On September 2, 2024, Member of Parliament Artem Dmytruk addressed the heads of the SBU (Security Service of Ukraine), DBR (State Bureau of Investigation), and MIA (Ministry of Internal Affairs) regarding the seizure of the UOC church dedicated to Saint George the Victorious in Pryyutivka, Kirovohrad Region.
"I have sent appeals to the heads of the SBU, DBR, and MIA regarding yet another crime by the authorities against hundreds of parishioners of one of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church communities," the MP wrote on his Telegram channel.
According to him, the raid was carried out by "bandits backed by the authorities".
"They cut the locks, broke in, and barricaded themselves inside. Tear gas and fire extinguishers were used against peaceful believers, children, and the elderly. This incident is yet another proof that there is a systematic destruction of the Orthodox Faith in Ukraine, with constant violations of the rights of believers and other citizens based on religious, linguistic, and other grounds," the statement reads.
As reported by the UOJ, on August 31, a group of raiders in camouflage cut the locks and broke into the territory of the Church of Saint George the Victorious (UOC) in the village of Pryyutivka.
