On September 24, another hearing in the case of Metropolitan Longin (Zhar) took place at the Herța District Court in the city of Herța, Chernivtsi region. A video address from the bishop after the court session was posted on the YouTube channel of the Bancheny Monastery.

"I am very grateful to all our parishioners – for your prayers, for your kind hearts," said the metropolitan, "and I am also very grateful today to our pilgrims who went to the Boyana Mother of God."

According to the UOC hierarch, the court session went very calmly. He expressed thanks to the judge and the prosecutor, and also expressed hope that "they will understand that the Constitution applies to me as well."

This was the first public statement from Metropolitan Longin following the car accident he was involved in at the beginning of August.

As previously reported, the UOC is holding a religious procession in Bukovyna in honor of the Boyana Icon of the Mother of God.
