The issue of recognizing the OCU created by the Phanar may cause the schism in the Local Churches, similar to the events of 1054, when the Roman and Eastern Churches got separated, said Metropolitan Anthony (Pakanich) of the UOC in an interview with ‘The Chronicle of Orthodoxy” of the Zaporizhzhia Eparchy.

Further recognition of the OCU will have consequences not only for Ukraine and the UOC but also at the level of world Orthodoxy, Vladyka Anthony believes.

“Unfortunately, the events of 1054 could be repeated,” he said. “And on different sides of the barricades, there will remain Churches, faithful to Orthodoxy, and structures that will agree to be part of a simulacrum of world Orthodoxy.”

According to the head of the UOC, the created fake of the Orthodox Church will be built not on a church basis but on secular principles.

“We are talking about a certain new system, where not God, canons and collegiality will be in the center, but ambitions, directives and the papal format of government,” said Metropolitan Anthony.

As reported, the hierarch of the Serbian Church said how to solve the problem of the schism in Orthodoxy.
