The preparatory court hearings in the case of the abbot of Sviatohirsk Lavra, Metropolitan Arseniy, scheduled for October 15 and 17, 2024, did not take place. According to the monastery's press service, one of them has been postponed to October 22.

It was noted that the reason for the postponement was the failure of the presiding judge to coordinate hearing dates with the defense team.

The press service stated that such scheduling conflicts have occurred previously, as the defense attorneys were unable to attend the hearings due to their involvement in other cases, whose schedules were set earlier.

The next preparatory hearing in the case of the Lavra’s abbot is set for Tuesday, October 22.

"In addition, the defense is preparing to defend its position in the Dnipro Court of Appeal, which is set to review the legality of the Sloviansk City District Court's decision to extend the detention of Metropolitan Arseniy. The hearing scheduled for October 17 did not take place," the statement said.

The final date for the consideration of the defense’s appeals is still unknown and will be announced later.

As the UOJ reported, the Court of Appeal will review the decision to hold Metropolitan Arseniy in pre-trial detention.
