Former MP and UOC Protodeacon Vadim Novinsky expressed his support for Metropolitan Theodosiy of Cherkasy and Kaniv, commenting on the violent seizure of the Archangel Cathedral in Cherkasy. His statement was published on the website novynskyi.com.
"In these difficult days, I want to express my support for Vladyka Theodosiy. He has proven to be a true spiritual leader, heroically rising to the occasion amid an enraged mob of radical nationalists and outright thugs," wrote Protodeacon Vadim Novinsky. "He wasn’t afraid to stand in front of his flock, to take the blow upon himself, defending not only the church but canonical Orthodoxy in Ukraine."
According to the UOC clergyman, the bishop demonstrated himself as a zealous defender of the faith and a servant of the Lord.
"His example is a testament to the fact that episcopal service is not only an honor and respect but also responsibility, a readiness for self-sacrifice, and carrying one’s Cross, setting a personal example for many believers," the statement reads.
The former MP stressed the need for prayer, strengthening communities, uniting, and acting as one body to defend their legal rights.
"The courage and selfless behavior of the Orthodox people of Cherkasy are an example to follow. They have impressed and inspired all Orthodox Ukrainians, as they did not fear the invaders and sought to give them a worthy response, bearing the brunt, rather than showing cowardice," he noted.
Vadim Novinsky wished Metropolitan Theodosiy and all the defenders of the Church who tried to prevent the desecration and looting of the church "faith, patience, a speedy recovery, and strength of spirit."
"The enemies of the Lord will not prevail, for they fail to realize that Christ lives not in walls, but in our hearts, which are impervious to violence and raiding," he concluded.
As the UOJ previously reported, Vadim Novinsky said that the Constitution in Ukraine is on pause, everything is decided by bats and administrative resources.
