The Department for Combating Heresies of the Piraeus Metropolis of the Church of Greece has declared that the Roman Catholic Church (RCC) cannot be considered a Church.

A statement, published on the official website of the Piraeus Metropolis, says that:

"According to the Holy Canons established by the Holy Ecumenical Councils of the first millennium – when the Western Church was still Orthodox –  clergymen who have fallen into carnal sin are subject to irrevocable excommunication."

However, despite the Catholic Church’s leadership being aware of "thousands of cases of pedophilia and violence against children," the Vatican, "as far as we know, has not excommunicated a single criminal priest but has merely transferred them (to another place of service)!" the Department for Combating Heresies of the Piraeus Metropolis pointed out.

"Such is the Papacy’s respect for the Holy Synods and Church Tradition! It does not respect the Church because it is not a Church!" the Piraeus Metropolis of the Church of Greece asserts.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that, according to the Piraeus Metropolis, the Vatican is "a den of thieves."
