The mayor of Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk region, Oleksandr Sayuk, responded to complaints addressed to the city council regarding St. George’s Church of the Kryvyi Rih Eparchy of the UOC. According to Nikopol News, in response to demands to confiscate the church, which is located in a local cemetery, Sayuk stressed the need to act within the law.
The mayor of Nikopol stated that any concerns should be formally submitted to law enforcement agencies.
"We provide all the necessary data regarding this church to them. Everything is recorded in the registries – who owns the property and on what land it stands. Therefore, I believe that law enforcement agencies should be contacted first, and only then should any decision be made. We always abide by the law. And in this matter, our position is also being in line with law," Sayuk said.
Earlier, it was reported that a UOC church in Kryvyi Rih was destroyed as a result of a Russian missile strike.
