Steve Witkoff, the special envoy of U.S. President Donald Trump, shared details of his second visit to Russia in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson.

Witkoff recounted a story told to him by President Vladimir Putin, related to the attempted assassination of President Trump in the summer of last year.

“He (Putin – Ed.) told me that when the president was shot, he went to his local church and met with his priest, and prayed for the president (Trump – Ed.). Not because he was President of the United States or could become president again, but because he had a friendship with him and he was praying for his friend,” the U.S. envoy said.

According to Witkoff, when he relayed this message to Donald Trump and delivered a portrait of him commissioned by Putin from the leading Russian artist, “he was clearly touched by it.”

Earlier, UOJ published a full translation of the interview between Robert Amsterdam and Tucker Carlson, along with an analysis of its key points.
