On March 25, 2025, “priest” of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) Theodor Orobets took part in a Muslim iftar, according to the press service of the Odesa Diocese of the OCU.

The second regional iftar of southern Ukraine was held in Odesa under the patronage of the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration and the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Ukraine “Umma”.

Representing the OCU at the event was Theodor Orobets, secretary of the Odesa Diocese and “archpriest,” who attended the iftar with the “blessing” of “Archbishop” Athanasios of Odesa and Balta.

Organizers stated that the gathering was not simply a dinner, but a “place for interfaith dialogue and interethnic acquaintance.”

The event also included representatives of regional authorities, various religious communities, the military, chaplains, volunteers, and civil society activists.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that the OCU "priest" had permitted the consumption of sausage during Lent.
