On March 28, 2025, in Kherson, divine services were held at the Transfiguration Church of the Holy Spirit Cathedral to mark the 18th anniversary of the uncovering of the relics of Venerable Barsanuphius – the heavenly patron and intercessor of the Kherson region. According to the press service of the Kherson Eparchy, the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts was led by Metropolitan Ioann of Kherson and Tavriya.

The metropolitan was concelebrated by clergy of the eparchy. During the service, he awarded several Kherson clergy with ecclesiastical honors.

Following the Liturgy, a prayer service was held in honor of Venerable Barsanuphius at the reliquary containing his holy relics.

At the conclusion of the service, the hierarch congratulated everyone on the feast day and expressed his wish that, “by following the example of Venerable Barsanuphius, we may grow stronger in the Orthodox faith and increase in love for God and neighbor.”

After the prayer service, a charitable meal was offered on the cathedral grounds for parishioners and pilgrims who came to prayerfully honor the memory of Kherson’s heavenly patron.

As previously reported by the UOJ, monastic tonsures have recently been performed at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra and in the Kherson Eparchy.
