Metropolitan Leonid (Gorbachev) of Klin, Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, told on the air of the Spas TV channel how many clerics of the Church of Alexandria had moved to the Russian Orthodox Church.

“The number of clerics is growing. At the time of the decision of the Holy Synod on December 29, 2021, there were 102 of them, today there are 150 of them from more than 12 countries,” he said.

The hierarch emphasized that among the clerics of the Church of Alexandria who transferred to the African Exarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church, there are no random people.

“We are actively engaged in checking all the people who wanted to go under the omophorion of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill and the Russian Orthodox Church. On the platforms of some online publications, we are reproached for admitting supernumerary clerics, clerics with a dubious reputation. I want to say with confidence that every person is subject to check-up,” he explained.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that the Exarch of the Russian Orthodox Church spoke about the main steps of the Orthodox mission in Africa.
